To whom it may concern,
We have classified the wines, brandys and liquors listed below in suitable or not suitable for vegetarians following the guidelines of the Vegetarian Society of Great Britain.
In the absence of any legal definition, CE has consulted with the Vegetarian Society of Great Britain for guidance and the following is considered to reflect the requirement of the majority of vegetarians. (More information can be found at www.vegsoc.org.)
Products cannot be considered suitable for vegetarians if they contain or have been in contact with: -
· Animal flesh, meat, fowl, fish or shellfish.
· Meat, fish or bone stock/stock cubes. (Including isinglass and chitin used for fining).
· Animal carcass fats including suet, lard or dripping
· Gelatine or Aspic (including gelatine used for clarification of wine).
· Battery or intensively produced eggs (including egg albumen used in clarification).
· Royal Jelly (produced by bees
· Genetically Modified Ingredients
· Any non-vegetarian products during the production process.
These clarifying agents are used respecting the COUNCIL REGULATION (EC) No 1493/1999, of 17 May 1999, on the common organisation of the market in wine and EC No 1622/2000, of 24 July 2000.
